Facebook has launched three new TV ads to underline it’s role in everyday life and the meaningful connections; which arise through using the social network, which now boasts over 1.3bn global users.  Facebook has been dabbling with television ads in the U.S. since 2012, when it debuted a campaign called “The Things that Connect Us”. seen below.

TV viewers in the U.K. will now start seeing the campaign promoting the social network, labelled ‘Friends’.

A Facebook spokesperson told The Drum: “Facebook is a place where friends go to make meaningful connections. This regional campaign celebrates those connections and the different kinds of friendship that enrich our lives both on and off Facebook.”

The first is ‘Our Friends’ – featuring an instrumental cover of Rihanna’s ‘Umbrella’.

‘Friend Request’ is the second ad, which features the Cure’s ‘Close to Me’.

And finally, ‘Girl Friends’ utilises Madonna’s ‘Like A Prayer’.

What are your thoughts on the new ads and have you seen them during TV spots yet?
